Deanne and Larry… wow. Beautiful couple, beautiful day, I couldn’t ask for much more. There was a lot of love in the room during the ceremony and reception and I have to admit, I had to keep the camera in front of my face during Larry’s speech to Deanne, it was genuine, and so very sweet. I nearly cried. You guys have something special. Our day took us to the school where Deanne and Larry first started dating about 13 years ago, The Rooms, George Street and Quidi Vidi. Quidi Vidi is becoming one of my favorite locations mainly for the hospitality of the locals. I’ve been there three times so far this wedding season, first time we got invited onto a beautiful boat, second time we got invited into a mans little house he uses for fishing and we were allowed use of his private deck on the water. So this time we weren’t disappointed, we were kept smiling and completely entertained with a skipper who got out his ‘Ugly Stick’ to play a few Newfie tunes from his boat. Never a dull moment! Well, hope you enjoy a few of the photos, thanks Deanne and Larry for a great day!

A photo in front of their old school - St. Theresa's. I'm told the school will soon be torn down to build a new one.

Thank you for reading my blog, I appreciate my readers who and wherever you may be!

After numerous email and phone chats, I finally got to meet Julie and Jason. A beautiful couple very much in love. A gorgeous and sunny wedding day once again, I’m 100% for warm sunny wedding days this season, so far
. Well, hope you enjoy just a few pics that I have chosen to share. We did go on a bit of an adventure in tree climbing, it was so much fun. Check out where Jason and Julie carved their initials many years ago, I didn’t realize how high up it was going to be! All the best Jason and Julie as you continue your journey together as husband and wife. It was a true pleasure to meet you, your family and friends.

Hugs and more hugs,
Donna
Another beautiful and sunny wedding day. Was last summer this nice? My life was so busy last summer I think I missed it, I’m vowing to make up for that this summer though. I had the opportunity to meet this beautiful couple through the talented Chris Crockwell of Crockwell Photography. They had a great outdoor wedding about a 1/2 hour outside of town at Kelly’s family cabin. It was great to get out of town and experience a new setting. Special thanks to Kelly’s dad for rowing me out into the pond for a few shots!

Hugs,
Donna
I will take a break from the wedding blog posts for a bit of fun. I was watching Canada AM yesterday and Jeff Hutcheson was doing my favourite part of the show where he talks about stuff he learned on the Internet. He mentioned that famous English footballer (and Mr. Posh Spice hehe), David Beckham, loves Legos. I thought it was extremely rare for a grown man to love Legos. My husband, a huge Lego lover, turned 30 in June. All he’s talked about since seeing it on our trip to a NYC Toys R Us in October is the Taj Mahal Lego Set. At 5,922 tiny pieces, Lego’s Taj Mahal model replica is considered the biggest and one of the most advanced models developed by Lego. When Becks recently admitted that during a stay in Italy, he occupied his time by building the Taj Mahal replica, sales of this particular model rose 663% in one day! It was a very sneaky operation, but his Mother, sister and I surprised my husband with the set on his birthday. So, here are a few photos of the progress of building our Taj Mahal.
Located in Agra, India, the real life Taj Mahal is a mausoleum built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal. It is now very high on my list of places to see during my life, I look forward to having a blog post with photos of the real thing someday. So, I hope Lego finds my Blog… David Beckham and his family have been invited to tour the Lego headquarters in Billund, Denmark, and contribute new ideas to the Lego Group. We are totally available to make the trip, afterall we put it together before Becks LOL! Seriously though, I am happy that he shared his passion for building with his fans, Legos are cool at any age!

The beginning, phone in there for a size comparison.

Top Piece

The final product. Hard to tell the size here but there is an orange guitar pic to the right of it for comparison. Took a total of 2 weeks to complete, spending a bit of time each day on it.
Lots of love,

It was the 4th of July and I got to spend it in style with Americans, complete with fireworks! Nicole, a Jersey Girl and Larry, a Newfoundlander now living in the US are a lovely couple I had the pleasure of meeting through my friends Jordan and Kim of Kimspirations. The wedding took place at the Bread and Cheese in of Bay Bulls, a venue I hadn’t heard of until recently, but what a beautiful place with incredible grounds for an outdoor wedding by the sea. I think I will be going back. Well, not too much I can say – it was another beautiful day with beautiful people, I am very lucky. I’ll get to the photos.. here are just a few I’d like to share.

From a photographer's perspective, I couldn't ask for more beautiful than this night.

Damien Follett and his band The Vibe did a great job at the wedding playing some excellent dance tunes. There was also a sax player in the band which was great for me as I am learning to play now - it was great inspiration.

Beautiful cake by Picco's Creations. I think the whole thing is edible, flowers, butterflies and all.
Love n hugs,

My friend Carolyn got married to her man Joe on July 2nd. Another scorcher lol! But what a day. Pretty much perfect. I got to leave my jeep at Carolyn’s and ride on a party bus all day. Did I mention that I love my job? Congrats to you guys and I hope you have a long and happy life together and… thank you so much!

This priest can harness heavenly powers, at least thats what it looks like in the photo lol

This awesome couple got married on June 26th, 2010. I had a fabulous time at their wedding. So far, as I write, I’m 6 weddings in for the 2010 summer wedding season and so far, every wedding day has been a scorcher. I’m not complaining, just hoping this good weather streak carries on! It’s making me love this job, not that it really feels like a job! Back to Tanya and Mike, they are a beautiful couple. I have to say a heartfelt thanks too for having me there to be a part of your day. Well, here are just a few photos from their day.

Sally will dance for food!

I think Tanya looks a bit like Rachel McAdams

Lots o’ Love,
Donna
I had the pleasure of photographing Kim & Andrew’s wedding in June, it was my second wedding of this wedding season. It was a beautiful day and I had a great time. Many thanks to my special little assistant Lisa for being the greatest flower girl/photography assistant I could ask for. Kim and Andrew, I wish you guys many happy years of wedded bliss and hope to see you guys soon when the babies come along!!
. Here are a few of the photos I took that I liked from the day…

Here’s to new beginnings! My 2010 wedding season kicked off on June 5th with Stephanie & Darryl’s beautiful wedding. I have been pretty busy since so there’s lots of blog-worthy material I’m looking forward to sharing. For my whole teen-aged life, I was a member of 807 Mount Pearl Air Cadet Squadron. This is where I first met Stephanie and her sister Karen. I was very happy to get the call from Stephanie saying she was getting married and wanted me to photograph the big day. The day went off great – beautiful weather and nothing hitched except the newlyweds. Thanks Stephanie for choosing me. It was nice to see you, Karen and see many familiar faces that haven’t changed too much in the 15 years since high school (it hurt to write that, but I think age is a state of mind… I’m actually 23). You certainly made a beautiful bride. All the best to you & Darryl for the rest of your lives together. Here are a few pics from the day…

Lots of love,
Donna
I often take photos of people but I also enjoy taking photos of other stuff too, anything really… so why not include some photos on the blog from a recent shoot I did at the local bed and breakfast “Comfort & Joy”. I have known the innkeeper Joy for many years and we have become friends, so I can say without a doubt that her guests are well taken care of at her beautiful B & B. Located on Wood Street in downtown St. John’s, the home has retained its old charm as seen in the beautiful fireplaces and floors true to their era, but the rooms also offer all the modern comforts. Combine all this with Joy’s tasty home cooked breakfast and it’s no wonder its attained a Canada Select 4-star rating.
Well, here are just a few photos from my time spent at the B & B. For more information or to book a room for some planned travel to St. John’s or just for a romantic getaway check out the Comfort & Joy website.

Joy's tasty home cooked breakfast, this made me hungry at the shoot haha.
