WPPI Las Vegas & Houston 2012

I am just back from quite an adventure. I was lucky to have the opportunity to attend the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) conference and trade show in Las Vegas in February. This was an awesome opportunity to immerse myself in everything photography, meet and learn from world class photographers and explore new trends and techniques in the industry. Some of the highlights of the trip included the amazingly huge 3-day tradeshow, a few awesome parties (click here to see a short clip from the Canon 80′s party) and the opportunity to mix with 16,000 people that share my love of the craft. It’s held in Vegas so… zip lines, canyon adventures, roller coasters, casinos, I managed to squeeze it all in! While I didn’t exactly get lucky in the casinos, I did get lucky at the trade show, winning Nik Software’s prize – $1800 worth of goodies including their complete photo editing suite, gift certificates galore, and full registration for WPPI 2013! After Vegas I flew to Houston, Texas to join my photographer friend Apryl Stead. We had a great time shopping and even spent a day shooting, check out the slideshow below featuring the talented Apryl, the ladies of TrueBeauty Moments Artistry, and models Tessa Janae (my new friend I met at WPPI) and NaPortia Sharp. Special thanks to the ladies of TrueBeauty Moments for providing hair and makeup for the shoot.

Here is my little niece Madison, she turned 2 way back in August. At this age, I must admit, she was hard to chase down for a photo haha! We did manage to get a few nice ones however. She keeps getting cuter…

Well hello! I’m finally back with some blog love. Fall is here and wedding season is winding down for me so I thought I’d take the time to share a recent shoot with my friend Colette and her fiance Jason. Dare I risk Google flagging my page for suspicious content, but I must say, they are “the bomb dot com!” ;). Look out for their wedding on the blog next fall.

Kristen and Sean

I loved this wedding. The sun was shining, beautiful couple and family, I could not have asked for more. Kristen and Sean made their way from Fort St John, BC for their special day. After a ceremony in Bowring Park, we made our way to Cape Spear and downtown for some photos, whales even came out for a show. I was happy to once again get the opportunity to work with Jordan and Kim at Kimspirations for this wedding, sincere thanks to you, it’s always a pleasure. I could go on about the awesome-ness of the couple and the day, but I guess I’ll just share some photos…

The first location shoot with the bridal party was as Cape Spear where there were 3 or 4 whales waiting to put on a show.

Glorious light to cap off a perfect day…

The reception at Clovelly was beautiful and everyone had a GREAT time. The groom’s twin brother Sheldon gave the funniest best man speech I’ve ever heard.

Vanessa + Ian

Awesome wedding down the southern shore. Vanessa and Ian had a beautiful ceremony on a sunny day in Fermeuse.

I like bright churches and this one was nice :)

After the ceremony, there was a drive through the town where the newlyweds were congratulated by the locals…

Dogs usually want in on the wedding photos too. This is Munjee – pretty cute!

Most of Ian’s family made the trip from British Columbia for the wedding. They were treated to Newfie Screech, Newfie “Bolognie” steak and lucky them they got to kiss a stinky cod fish as part of their Screech-In ceremony. After enduring that, they are proud to have honourary Newfoundlander status!

Kerri + Michael

Good thing I have sunny weddings to edit on cloudy, rainy and cold Newfoundland days! It reminds me that sometimes the sun does shine here in our province :). Here are some photos of a beautiful couple, Kerri and Michael. It was a hot day and I think I still have a bit of a tan from it ;).
